Fixtures/Results:

Well done to our senior hurlers who have qualified for the final of the senior hurling championship for the 4th year in a row after seeing off Western Gaels in a thrilling West Sligo derby on Sunday. Western Gaels aided by the breeze got off to the better start and an early goal seen them race into a 3 point lead, which was the difference between the sides at half time. 2nd half goals from Andy Kilcullen (who was moved from starting goalkeeper into the forward line for the 2nd half) and Fionn Moylan helped Easkey/St Farnan’s open up a gap but Western Gaels continued to battle on and a late goal from a free seen them reduce the gap back to 3 points and set up a nervous finish but Easkey/St Farnan’s won possession from the resulting puck out and did just enough to see the game out on score line of 2-13 to 2-10. The final will be held on Sunday 23rd October.

Easkey Team: Andrew Kilcullen (1-4, 3f), Bernard Feeney, Gavin Connolly, Daniel Rolston, Ronan Molloy, Eoghain Rua McGowan, Donall Hanley, Finnian Cawley (0-2), Fionn Connolly, Mikey Gordon, Fionn Moylan (1-1), James Weir, Joe McHugh (0-3), Thomas Cawley (0-3, 3f), Hayden Gilroy. Fixtures/Results:

Well done to our senior footballers who have qualified for the final of the intermediate championship after seeing off St Pats in a thrilling game on Saturday. The first quarter was closely fought with little between the teams but as the half progressed, Easkey started to gain control and 2 goals from Jack Scott and Kevin Duffy seen Easkey lead by 6 at the break. St Pats came out all guns blazing at the 2nd half and brought the lead back to 1 point, with Easkey having goalkeeper Daniel Rolston to thank for maintaining the lead pulling off a number of fine saves. A goal from Fionn Moylan increased the lead back out to 4 points which was followed by points from Jonathon Conway and Andrew Kilcullen before St Pat’s did get a goal to bring it back to a 3 point game. However Easkey responded well and points from Brendan McGrath, Andrew Kilcullen and a point from a 45” from Daniel Rolston saw Easkey run out 4 point winners.  They now play St Molaise Gaels in the final in 2 weeks on Sunday 9th October in Markievicz Park.

We ask everyone to get their flags, mascots, bunting and banners out and for the whole parish to get behind the team and show their support/colours for the final.

Hard luck to Easkey/St Farnan’s u17 footballers who lost out in the A Shield final on Sunday to St Molaise Gaels on a score line of 1-10 to 3-09. Despite missing a few through injuries for the final, this young team battled hard and kept going until the very end and can be proud of their efforts. There was very little between the teams throughout with a 1st half goal from Adam Rolston getting Easkey/St Farnan’s off to a great start. The turning point of the game was at the start of the 2nd half when a great effort from Adam Rolston came back off the crossbar and St Molaise Gaels quickly counter attacked and scored a spectacular goal. Despite Easkey/St Farnan’s best efforts, they just couldn’t close the gap with Molaise pulling away at the end. It was a great year for the this young team who won the B league and stepped up to A Championship. Thanks to trainers John Feeney, John Queenan, David Finnegan and Pat Golden for all their work with the team throughout the year.
