Team News:
Our Intermediate team finished out the Shane Quigley Financial Advisor New Ireland West Division Senior Spring League with a loss to St. Patrick’s at Seamie Donegan Memorial Park on Friday evening last, May 5th with a final score of 4-16 to 2-16 with our goals coming from boots of Oisin Finnerty and Conal Duffy. The team will now prepare for the Fureys Coaches Senior Football League Division 3 with the first round away to Shamrock Gaels on Friday 26th May.
Our U18 team also finished in their Expert Electrical Sligo U18 A Football League with their final game away to Eastern Harps on Tuesday last, 2nd May. Full time score 6-12 to 1-6. They will regroup and prepare for Championship and no doubt some will prepare for the ever important Leaving Cert exams which start next month.
Our U13 team play in the Plate semi-final on Monday evening, 8th May with home advantage against Calry/St. Joseph’s. Thrown-in at 7pm. Best of luck to all the team. Support would be much appreciated.
Our U11’s are in action against Curry at home on Tuesday evening at 6.30pm, while our U7’s & U9’s are away to the same opposition on Wednesday evening at 7pm.
County Scene:
Congratulations to Ethan Carden, Brian Duffy and selector, John Paul Carden, and all the Sligo U20 team and management on their win against Kerry in the EirGrid All-Ireland Championship semi-final at Pearse Statium on Saturday last. Wishing them all the best of luck in the final against Kildare on Saturday next, 13th May, at the Kingspan Breffni Park in Cavan. Thrown-in at 2.45pm.
The best of luck to the Sligo Minors, and in particular to our own Eoin Tuffy, Shane Murphy and Niall Duffy in their game against Mayo in McHale Park, Castlebar on Friday next.
Congratulations to Michael Moyles, manager of the Mayo Ladies and all the team after he guided them to their first TG4 Connacht Senior Championship title since 2016.
Well done to Kilglass NS boys who beat Calry NS in Cumann na mBunscol on Friday last. Hard luck to the girls team who lost despite gallant efforts. Thanks to our Coaching Development Officer, Alan Duffy and the school teachers, Mr Brennan and Ms Lynott for all their help and support with the teams.
Our Club welcome the appointment of Conor Gormley as the new West Sligo Games Promotion Officer and look forward to working with him in developing and promoting the games.
Golf Classic:
Our Club are holding a Golf Classic on Friday 28th July, the weekend of the Black Pig Festival. First prize will be four All Ireland Football tickets plus four Titleist Golf Bags along with many
