Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA Club notes Monday 28th July

Intermediate

 

Our Intermediate footballers begin their championship campaign on Friday night next, August 1st, against St Farnan’s in Castleconnor. Throw-in is at 7pm and all supporters will require tickets for entry, with details to be circulated later this week. All support is welcome for the team and management as they embark on their campaign. 

 

Minor

 

Our minors take on St Pats/Owenmore Gaels in the semi-finals of the championship shield competition this Tuesday night (July 29th) with throw-in at Connolly Park in Collooney at 7pm. 

 

Under-15

 

Our under-15s lost out to St Mary’s in their latest championship match on Monday evening. The lads finished sixth in the group phase and will now turn their attention to the knockout stages. 

 

Under-13

 

Our under-13s continued their good form with a win away to Drumcliffe/Rosses Point last week in the third round of the championship. Their next assignment is a home match against St John’s this Friday night from 7pm, in what is a repeat of the league final from earlier this year. 

 

Quigabar work

 

Work is continuing at Quigabar on resurfacing the car park areas. Please be mindful of same if driving into the ground and take the necessary precautions. Your co-operation is appreciated. 

 

Coaching visit

 

The club was thrilled to host renowned coach from Antrim, Michael Gerard Doherty, at Quigabar last week for an engaging session with our underage coaches. Michael Gerard provided plenty of thought-provoking content for all in attendance and was extremely generous with his time. Our thanks to Michael Gerard for his visit and to Mark and Annmarie Gordon for their efforts in making it such a great success.

Shamrock Gaels Club notes Monday 28th July
Reminder that the Shamrock Gaels Cúl Camp starts today Monday 28th in Shamrock Gaels Park.

The Senior Championships get underway this weekend with the Senior team up against County and Connacht Champions, Coolera/Strandhill in Keash at 7.30PM. The Junior team take on Tubbercurry on Monday at 4.00PM in Curry in the Junior A Championship - please come out and support both teams.

G4M&O train every Monday evening 8-9. This is a fun way to socialise while also getting some exercise. All new members welcome no experience required just need to be over 25.

Thanks to everyone who supported our Clayton Hotel Sponsored Golf Classic at the weekend in Castle Dargan. The winner of our 50/50 draw last week was Ann Burns who won €1,030.

The U18 boys play Coolaney/Mullinabreena on Tuesday at home at 7.00PM.

The U15 boys had a good 4-9 to 2-10 win over St Johns in the A Championship. They now play Curry in their final group game away on Monday at 7.00PM.

The U14 girls play Coolera/Strandhill away on Monday at 7.00PM.

The U13 boys earned their first win of the championship with a one pint victory over Coolera/Strandhill on a scoreline 5-8 to 3.13. The team was: Conan Sweeney, Daire Flynn, Cillian Conboy, Frankie Willis, Micháel O'Connor, Dylan Leydon (0-2), Cian Burns, Darragh Quigley (3-6), Caelan Flynn, Daithi Scanlon, Niall Usher (1-0), Kaden McGann, Euan Bergin, Ben Caliendo, Alfie McTiernan. subs used: Shea McGrath and Patrick Gilligan. They now play Drumcliffe/Rosses Point on Wednesday 6.45PM in Riverstown Park.

The U12 and U11 girls play Eoghan Rua in Enniscrone on Monday at 6.30PM and 7.30PM.

The U11 boys play Eastern Harps on Tuesday at 7.00PM in Ballinafad.

The U10 and U8 girls hosted neighbours Geevagh and St Michael's in 3 very enjoyable games last Friday with great skills of tackling and scoring on display. The U10 girls now play Owenmore Gaels away on Wednesday at 7.00PM. The U9 boys hosted Eastern Harps last week with great skills and team work displayed in very enjoyable games.

The Club wish to express sympathy with the family, relatives and friends of Pat McDermott, Knockadoo, Riverstown who died last week.

Shamrock Gaels Club notes Monday 21st July
The Senior men's team notched up their second Division 1 title in three years with a comprehensive 4-22 to 0-13 win over Tourlestrane on Saturday in Tubbercurry. Well done to the team and management on a clinical and impressive display. The team was: Jack Duignan, Karl McKenna, Evan Lyons, Daniel Lyons, Conor Kearns, Conor Sheridan, Ciaran Kenny, Dillon McDermott, George Barlow, Conor McMorrow, Lee Deignan, James Carroll, James Foley, Shane Deignan, Johnny Quinn. Subs used: Sean Carroll for J Carroll, Luke Flynn for C McMorrow, Seamus Hailstones for J Foley, Michael Barry for D King, Patrick Kenny for D McDermott. The Gaels now prepare for championship with the first round in Keash Friday week August 1st against County and Connacht Champions, Coolera/Strandhill.

The U18 boys got their first win of the championship against Tourlestrane on a scoreline of 4-14 to 1-10. The team was: Eli Rogers, Joseph O’Connor, Liam McDermott, Clive Barlow, Conor Feeney, Daniel Kearns, Tadhg Kenny, Cruz Lyons, Jack Brehony, Eoin Feeney, Micèal Garry, Rian Conway, Troy Kelly, Darragh McKeon, Charlie King Subs used: Fionnan Duffy and Dillon Barrett. They have a bye this week and will play their last group game against Coolaney/Mullinabrenna on Tuesday 29th.

The U15 boys lost 5-15 to 5-6 to Tubbercurry/Cloonacool last week. They now play St Johns at home on Monday at 7.00PM.

The U14 girls got their championship campaign off to a great start with a 6-5 to 0-4 win over neighbours Geevagh/St Michaels last Monday. The team was: Abbie McTiernan, Lauren Orr, Sinead Gilligan, Neveah Cassidy, Lauren Kearns Chapman, Eva Callaghan, Bronagh Conlon, Ciara Scanlon, Rebecca Garry, Meabh Tonry, Elyse Medas, Kate Jinks, Amy Edwards, Alice Foley, Kate Flaherty, subs used: Keeva Clancy, Makayla Brehony, Aoife O'Connor, Hollie White and Lola Cunnane. 

The U13 boys lost to a strong Ballymote/Bunninadden team in the second round of the championship. The team was: Conan Sweeney, Dáire Flynn, Brian Merrick, Frankie Willis, Kaelan Flynn, Dylan Leydon, Ben Caliendo, Cillian Conboy, Niall Usher, Kaden McGann, Alfie McTiernan, Micheál O’Connor, Daithi Scanlon, Darragh Quigley, Euan Bergen. subs used: Maverick Lyons, Andrew Henry, Shay McGrath, Patrick Gilligan. They now play Coolera/Strandhill Friday away at 7.00PM.

The U11 and U12 girls play Eoghan Rua in Enniscrone at 6.30PM and 7.30PM this Friday.

The U11 boys played St John's last Wednesday with some great skills on display thanks to St John's for hosting.

The U8 and U10 girls host Geevagh and St Michael's this Friday at home at 7.00PM.

The U9 boys play Eastern Harps at home on Wednesday at 6.45PM.

Well done to the Riverstown Community Games U12 Girls Gaelic Team who won the Connacht semi-final and Final last Saturday.

Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA Club notes Monday 14th July
Adult 

Our intermediate footballers lost out to St Mary's in the final round of the Division One league last Friday on a final scoreline of  2-17 to 1-9. The lads now turn their attention to the championship which begins on Friday, August 1st against St Farnan's. 

Minor

Our minor team fell to defeat against Easkey/St Farnan's last week in round two of the championship. 

Under-15

Our under-15s lost out to Coolaney/Mullinabreena by 1-14 to 1-11 in round three of the championship last week. Next up is a home fixture against St Molaise Gaels next Monday. 

Under-13

Our under-13s got their championship campaign off to a winning start with a 3-15 to 2-6 defeat of Curry last Friday. They're away to St Mary's for their next match on Friday evening, with throw in at 7pm in Kent Park. 

Coaching workshop

The club is pleased to confirm that renowned coach from Belfast, Michael Gerard Doherty, will visit us for a workshop with our coaches this coming Saturday (July 19th) in Quigabar. All club coaches and members are asked to attend. Please contact Mark Gordon on 087 982 7436 if you would like to attend. 

Pitch ground works

Work has commenced on improving the surface of the car park at Quigabar. Please be mindful of this in the coming days and weeks as that work continues. We thank you for your co-operation.

Shamrock Gaels Club notes Monday 14th July
It is just two weeks away to our Cúl Camp with a few remaining places available - book now on line to avoid disappointment.

The winner of last weeks 50/50 draw was Aidan Harte who won €915.

The Men's Div 1 team had a hard fought 0-19 to 3-11 win over Eastern Harps in the final league game. The Gaels had a lack lustre first half but a strong second half saw them run out narrow winners to set up a league final with Tourlestrane next Saturday at 7.00PM in Tubbercurry - please support.

The Men's Div 3 team lost 4-11 to 1-16 to St Michaels in the final league game and finished up fourth in the league. The team was: Sean Kelly, Aaron Coleman, Declan Willis, Jack Tuohy, Jack Brehony, Eoin O'Connell, Conor Kearns, Patrick Kenny, Aaron McKenna, Luke Flynn, Liam O'Connell, James Carroll, Conor McMorrow, Darragh Hailstones, Brendan Hailstones. Subs: Michael Barry for A Coleman, Sam Tuohy for A McKenna, Niall Kenny for D Hailstones, Steven Willis for L O'Connell, James Foley for B Hailstones. Attention now turns to championship with the first game on August 4th.

The Senior Ladies lost narrowly to St Nathys in the ACL on a scoreline 2-14 to 4-10. The team was: Kate Brehony, Eilis O'Connor, Ava Lyons, Katie Gilligan, Penny Barlow, Lara Swann, Naomh Quinn, Ceili Faughnan, Nola Eivers, Orlaith Scanlon, Meave Lyons, Emma Rainey, Jane Benson, Hannah Hargadon. subs used: Hannah Willis, Aisling Dwyer, Orla Devaney and Molly Kearns Chapman. They now have a break from competitive action until the first round of the championship on August 10th.

The U18 boys lost to Calry/St Joseph's last Tuesday and now play Tourlestrane on Tuesday away at 7.00PM.

The U16 girls played St John's in the A league final last Monday. The sides could not be separated after normal time and the game went to extra time. In a tightly contested game St John's came out winners on a scoreline 5-8 to 1-17. The team was: Abbie McTiernan, Eva Usher, Aleaesha Sweeney, Rebecca Garry, Clodagh Galvin, Molly Kearns Chapman, Ava Lyons, Grainne McDermott, Katie Gilligan, Penny Barlow, Siofra Duignan, Sophie Edwards, Aisling Dwyer, Alice Foley, Shanara Middleton. subs used Leah Coleman, Ella Thompson, Kaitlyn Henry, Eva Callaghan and Amy Edwards.

The U15 boys lost to the amalgamation of Easkey, St Pats and St Farnans last Monday in the second round of A Championship. They now play Tubbercurry/Cloonacool away on Monday at 7.00PM in Tubbercurry.

The U14 girls play 2 rounds of the championship this week. They first take on Geevagh/St Michaels on Monday at 6.45PM and play St Molaise Gaels on Thursday at 6.30Pm with  both games at home.

The U13 boys lost in the first round of the A Championship to a strong St John's side last Friday. They now play Ballymote/Bunninadden on Friday at home at 6.30PM.

The U10 and U8 girls hosted St John's last Friday at home with some great skills and teamwork on display.

Well done to the Gaels players involved with Sligo last week. The U18 Girls qualified for the All Ireland B Final against Clare with a win over Laois. Well done to Leanne Galvin, vice captain, Ciara Gilligan and Aoibhinn Conlon with Sophia Rose Henry out through injury. Next up was Sligo U16 team who topped their Manning Cup group to reach the knock out phases with a win over Leitrim. Miceál Garry scored two points with Fionnan Duffy and Josh McTiernan also part of the panel.

Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA Club notes Monday 7th July

Adult 

Our intermediate footballers lost out to Eastern Harps last weekend by 2-18 to 1-10 at Quigabar. The defeat means we will play league football in Division Two next season. 

Our lads play St Mary's in their final league match on Friday evening next from 7.30pm in Kent Park. 

Our Junior 'B' footballers have now turned their attention to the championship which is due to get underway in August. 

Minor

Our minor team fell to a 1-17 to 2-12 defeat to Drumcliffe/Rosses Point in their first championship match last week. Tonight (Tuesday July 8th), they take on Easkey/St Farnan's at home with throw in at Quigabar at 7pm. 

Under-15

Our under-15s have endured a difficult start to their championship campaign with defeats to Coolera/Strandhill and Drumcliffe/Rosses Point. Having shown good character throughout the course of the league, the lads will undoubtedly bounce back. They travel to Achonry for their next outing against Coolaney/Mullinabreena on Monday July 14th for a 7pm throw-in. 

Under-13

Our under-13s will commence their championship campaign on Friday, July 11th at home to Curry.
