Shamrock Gaels Club notes Monday 2nd December
We are delighted to announce Tommy Deignan as our new Club President. Tommy, nominated by Chairperson Andy Kearns and seconded by Lauri Quinn was appointed at our AGM to succeed the late Seamus Cawley who passed away recently. Tommy has a long association with the club and Sligo GAA having won a County Championship with Sooey in 1959 and winning a Connacht Junior title with Sligo in 1956. Tommy's three sons won two Senior Championship medals with the Gaels and also served Sligo with distinction. The Deignan legacy lives on with Tommy's grandsons, Shane and Lee, members of the current Gaels and Sligo senior squads.

Congratulations and well done to Coolera/Strandhill on their impressive Connacht Championship title win at the weekend. Bringing a Connacht Club title to Sligo for the first time in 41 years is a fantastic achievement and a great boost to Sligo football and sets the standard for all clubs to follow.
