Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA Club notes Monday 14th April
Spring League

Our Intermediate footballers are through to the Senior Spring League final following last weekend’s 1-12 apiece draw with Shamrock Gaels at Quigabar. 

The final will take place on the weekend of May 10th and 11th. 

In the meantime, our lads attention will turn to the start of their Division One league campaign, which begins with a home fixture against Coolera/Strandhill on Saturday week (April 26th) at 6pm. 

Our Junior ‘B’ team begin their Division 4B campaign the night before against the same opposition. 

Minor

Hard luck to our minor footballers on their loss to Curry at Quigabar last weekend. It finished 2-9 to 2-7 in favour of the visitors on Saturday evening. Our lads face a quick turnaround with an away match against St Pat’s/Owenmore Gaels on Tuesday evening (April 15th) in Collooney. Throw in is at 6.30pm. 

Under-15

Our under-15s produced a great display to beat St Molause Gaels in Grange last Monday, winning by a single point on a 4-13 to 6-6 scoreline. They were due to be back in action on Monday (April 14th) with a home match against Ballymote/Bunninadden. Throw in is at 7pm. 

Under-13

Our under-13 ‘’C’ team put in another superb display to beat Coolera/Strandhill in Ransboro last Tuesday night, winning by 4-17 to 4-14. Our lads have a home match against Ballymote/Bunninadden on Tuesday night (April 15th), with throw in at half six. 

Under-9s

Our under-9s had a great run out last week with matches against Castleconnor in Corballa on Wednesday. This week, our teams will host Easkey on Wednesday. 

Nursery programme

Our popular nursery programme returns for a new year on April 26th at 10am. The nursery will run on Saturday mornings and will include our under 5s, under 7s and under 9s, with boys and girls welcome.

County scene  

The Sligo under-20s had a great win over Leitrim on Wednesday night last to secure a semi-final spot (at least) in the Connacht Championship. Well done to Ethan, Tommy, Eoin and Greg. Good luck to everyone involved in this Wednesday's meeting with Mayo at Markievicz Park, with Sligo in the hunt for a spot in the final. 

Blotto

Congrats to Cathy Sheridan (Fox) on winning the blotto draw last weekend. Cathy took the jackpot of €4800. Next week’s draw in the Pilot Bar will be for a jackpot of €3000. Thanks to all players for the continued support. 

Sympathy

The club extends its sympathies to Mattie and the Coleman and Healy families on the death of Mattie’s sister, Eileen Healy, last week. 

The club also extends its sympathies to the Conmy family on the recent passing of Gerry Conmy, who was a member of the Enniscrone/Kilglass Junior Championship winning team in 1966.

Drumcliffe/Rosses Point Club notes Monday 14th April
The DRP Walkathon takes place this Easter Weekend at Oxfield, from 4pm on Good Friday to 4pm on Easter Saturday. 24 groups of walkers will each walk for an hour of the 24-hour walkathon period. The event is the club's big fundraiser of the year - and is also raising money for the Friends of Sligo University Hospital's Stroke Unit. To tie-in with our Walkathon this weekend, Our Saturday morning All-Stars coaching sessions for all age groups move to Oxfield (from Rathcormac) at the usual times.

Our senior men's footballers received a walkover from Coolera/Strandhill in the Senior Spring League at the weekend. However, Enniscrone have finished top of our group - they progress to the knockout stages of the competition.

The draws for the men's Homeland Senior Football Championship was made last Thursday night. DRP have again been drawn in Group 2 along with St Molaise Gaels, St Mary's, Tourlestrane and Tubbercurry. The championship is scheduled to begin on the weekend of Aug 3rd.

Our senior women's footballers have made it two wins from two in the Connacht Gold Division 1 league following Sunday's 2-13 to 1-15 win over Tourlestrane. The team's next game is away to St Nathy's in two week's time.

Our junior women's team lost out to CT Gaels in Division 4 by 3-16 to 2-8. 

Well done to Paul O'Brien (0-4), Thomas O'Brien and the Sligo senior hurlers who won their opening Nickey Rackard Cup game against Louth at Markievicz Park last Saturday.

Good luck to the Sligo U20 footballers who play Mayo this Wednesday evening at Markievicz Park in their final group game. Win or lose, Sligo are already assured of a place in the championship play-offs.

Shamrock Gaels Club notes Monday 14th April
The Senior team drew 1-12 to 1-12 with Enniscrone/Kilglass at the weekend in the Spring League. They kick off their league campaign in two weeks with a home game against St Marys.

The Senior ladies play Eastern Harps on Tuesday at home at 7.00PM in the second round of the league.

The U18 boys play Tourlestrane away on Tuesday at 6.30PM.

The U18 girls play St Mary's on Friday away at 5.45PM.

The U15 boys had a busy week. First up they played St John's on Monday evening however they lost 5-16 to 3-11. The team was: Harry Brehony, Eli Cassidy, Sean Tonry, Eanna Candon, Marc Kenny, Alan Og Henry, Leon MC Morrow, Ethan Medas, Karl Barlow, Dylan MC Morrow, Diarmuid Duffy, Luke Fitzpatrick, Aaron Brehony, Sam Rainey and Daire Regan. subs used: Sean McMorrow, Sean Cogan, Cillian Doherty. Next up they played St Mary's in a very entertaining game with Gaels coming out on top on a scoreline of 5-10 to 2-11. They now play Eastern Harps at home on Monday evening at 6.15PM.

The U14 girls Division 3 played their first league game against a strong St Pats/St Farnans last Monday in Templeboy. The home side were comprehensive winners on a scoreline of 6-12 to 1-6. The team was Abbie McTiernan, Neveah Cassidy, Sinead Gilligan, Ciara Byrne, Sarah Jayne Scanlon, Eva Callaghan, Lauren Orr, Ciara Scanlon, Rebecca Garry (0-2), Elyse Medas, Alice Foley (0-3), Meabh Tonry, Kate Jinks (1-0), Kate Flaherty (0-1), Amy Edwards. Subs used Savannah Cox, Lauren Kearns Chapman, Aimee Mullaney and Kate Murrin.

The Division 3 team were out again on Wednesday away to Drumcliffe/Rosses Point 2 and we ran out comprehensive winners with a good team performance. The team was: Abbie McTiernan, Savannah Cox, Sinead Gilligan, Ciara Byrne, Sarah Jayne Scanlon, Eva Callaghan, Lauren Orr, Rebecca Garry (1-2), Ciara Scanlon (1-4), Elyse Medas (0-2), Alice Foley (0-3), Meabh Tonry (0-2), Lauren Kearns Chapman, Kate Jinks (1-3), Niamh Kennedy.

The U14 girls Division 4 team played Eastern Harps on Friday in a very entertaining game. The girls worked very hard in warm conditions to come away with a 5-11 to 4-5 win. The team was: Ciara Byrne, Keeva Clancy, Aimee Mullaney, Bronagh Conlon, Lauren Orr, Lauren Kearns Chapman, Sarah Jayne Scanlon, Savannah Cox, Niamh Kennedy, Kate Jinks (0-1), Amy Edwards (2-4), Kate Murrin (3-6), Hollie White and Lola Cunnane.

The Division 3 U14 girls play Tourlestrane on Monday in Riverstown Park at 7.00PM while the Division 4 team play Eoghan Rua 2 on Tuesday in Riverstown Park at 6.30PM.

The U13 boys play St Molaise Gaels at home on Friday at 6.30PM.

The U12 girls play Tourlestrane on Friday at 7.00PM in Riverstown Park while the U11 girls play St Molaise Gaels away at 7.00PM.

The U11 boys play Eastern Harps on Thursday at home at 7.00PM while our U9 boys are away to Eastern Harps on Wednesday at 7.00PM.

The winner of our 50/50 draw last week was Joan Kerrigan who won €870. 

The club wish to express sympathy with the family and relatives of Vincent Carty, Ballygawley who died during the week.

Minor

Well done to our minor footballers on their 5-11 to 1-12 win over Drumcliffe/Rosses Point in the opening round of the league last week. They play Curry in their next match, with time and date to be confirmed. 

Under-15

Hard luck to our under-15s on their defeat to Easkey/St Farnan's/St Pat's last week. This week, they're on the road with an away match against St Molaise Gaels on Monday night (April 7th), with throw-in at half six. 

Under-13

It was a good week for our under-13s, with the 'A' team getting the better of St John's by 5-16 to 1-14 while our 'C' team also produced an encouraging display in their 1-20 to 1-9 defeat of Tourlestrane. 

The 'C' team are back in action on Tuesday (April 8th) at home to Coolera/Strandhill from 6.30pm. The 'A' team have a break until the end of the month.

Drumcliffe/Rosses Point Club notes Monday 7th April
Commiserations to Sligo on Sunday's three-point defeat to Mayo in the Connacht senior football championship. We were proud of Cian Lally's contribution of 1-1 in Castlebar. Onwards to the Tailteann Cup next month.

Good luck to Sligo under-20 footballers, including the DRP contingent of Donnchadh O'Brien, Rían O'Callaghan, Eamon O'Mahony, Michael Carroll and Eamon Keane, against Leitrim in the  Connacht U20 championship this Wednesday evening in Drumshanbo at 6:30pm. The game is being livestreamed by Connacht GAA. The U20s had a great one-point win over Galway last week to remain firmly in contention for the knockout stages.

Good luck to Thomas O'Brien and the Sligo minors in their championship game against Mayo this Friday evening in Castlebar at 6:30pm.

We have two DRP men - Paul O'Brien & Thomas Davis - on the Sligo senior hurling panel, who begin their Nickey Rackard Cup campaign this Saturday afternoon against Louth in Markievicz Park at 3pm.

Our senior men's footballers scored a 1-10 to 0-10 win over Shamrock Gaels in the Senior Spring League last Saturday evening in Oxfield. They now travel to Ransboro this Saturday to play county champions Coolera/Strandhill in their concluding Group A game  at 6pm.

It was a winning start to the Sligo LGFA Connacht Gold senior football league Division 1 season for DRP  last Sunday in Tubbercurry as the girls recorded a 2-9 to 0-6 victory over CT Gaels.  We host Tourlestrane this Sunday morning in Oxfield at 10:30am.

Our junior women's team put in a very competitive display against St Mary's at Oxfield last Saturday in Division 4, before losing out on a final scoreline of 2-9 to 2-3.

The underage matches are coming thick and fast now across all codes (too many to mention here) as Go Games blitzes begin this week at the various age grades. Oxfield hosted its first U11 hurling blitz of the season last Wednesday evening. Our thanks to Cluanín Iomáint and St Molaise Gaels for being part of it.

Our U11 hurlers are now getting ready for a very special trip to Croke Park next Tuesday, April 15th,. They will be among Connacht's representatives at a Go Games Blitz at GAA HQ, and will also get a guided tour of the famous stadium. Trip details are being communicated to parents this week.

The excitement is building towards the inaugural DRP Walkathon which will take place this Easter over a 24-hour period, from Friday Aug 18th at 4pm to Saturday, Aug 19th at 4pm at Oxfield. Club members and friends  are making up 24 relay teams - with each group walking  for one hour as part of the walkathon. Drumcliffe/Rosses Point Club notes Monday 31st March
Hard luck to the Sligo women's gaelic footballers, and the DRP trio of Sinead Regan, Izzy Henry and Rianne Smith, who lost out to Fermanagh in last Sunday's Division 4 league semi-final. Our senior women's footballers begin their Connacht Gold Division 1 league campaign this Sunday with a trip to south Sligo to play CT Gaels at 10:30am. Our junior women's team also begin their Division 4 campaign this weekend, with a home match against St Mary's.

Good luck to Cian Lally, Eoghan Smith and the Sligo senior footballers in Castlebar on Sunday, as they take on Mayo in the opening round of the Connacht Senior Football Championship at 3:30pm.

A mention for Grainne O'Hara, Chloe McDonagh and Ceola Voight who are part of the Sligo LGFA county U16 squad who began their championship campaign last weeekend against Roscommon. The Sligo team is also managed by DRP's Paul McDonagh.

We have four DRP players on the Sligo LGFA U14 panel, Mia McLoughlin, Avie O'Brien, Freya McCaffrey and Joy Flanagan, who played games against Mayo and Leitrim last Saturday in Bekan.

The inaugural DRP Walkathon will take place at Oxfield on Good Friday, April 18th, from 4pm to Easter Saturday, April 19th , at 4pm. We are looking for 24 groups of 10 walkers to take a one-hour walking slot on the Easter weekend, to help raise funds for the club. Sponsorship cards will be distributed to participating walkers - but most of all, it's going to be good fun. Saturday morning All-Stars coaching continues this and every Saturday morning at Rathcormac NS playing fields at the usual times (9:45am and 10:45am). A welcome talk for parents of new (first-time joiner) players will be held in the School Hall on Saturday at 10am. All welcome. Special thanks to Ireland rugby international (and former DRP player) Nicole Fowley, who paid an impromptu visit to our girls U8 and U10 coaching sessions last weekend.

The club's monthly meeting for April takes place on Monday night, April 7th, in Oxfield at 8:30pm sharp.
